Played By= Denzel Washington
Category= Freelancer
Name = Qayin de Vergès
Alias/Nicknames = Cain, Papa, Papa Cain, Papa Doc, The Voodoo Man, Mister Mystery
Age = 52
Status = Founding Family/Single
Height = 6'3"
Weight = 220
Eye Color = Grey
Hair Color = Black with touches of grey
General Demeanor/Personality = He's a straight shooter. If he doesn't like something he'll tell you and not think twice about it. Can be a touch grumpy and better not insult his food. Outside of his grumpy exterior, he's very much a kind hearted man. If he thinks someone is in trouble he will do what he can to help even if it means causing trouble to him. Faithful and loyal like no other. If you can get him to call you a friend, he'll be there for you till the last man stands and for Cain, that's a challenge.
Quirks =
*He can be a very quiet man, if not talking to himself.
*Some would say he's crazy because he seems to talk to people not there.
*Vices: Cigars and Rum
*More calm/relaxed/tranquil if and or around things of an Elemental nature: Oceans, fields of grass, fresh natural breeze or simply playing with fire.
*The reverse being, seems to be off his game or grumpier when not near the elements for extended periods.
*Tends to bring good luck to ships he works on. This tends to get smugglers to want him around.
*Eyes turn green when using his powers
*Has a thing for hats and spicy foods
*If he has to, he will use a gun. Otherwise he prefers anything else. Particularly, his machete.
*Hates strong and potent smells
Best Skills = Alternative Medicines ( vodou, shamanism, holistic etc ), cooking, sensing a lie, surviving the wild, taking a punch, calculates his every move even if it doesn't seem like so, tracking, keeping his mouth shut
General Skills = Running, walking, traveling, rudimentary knowledge of most language one way or another (sometimes he can read but not speak it),
Reputation = All depends on who you ask. Spending most of his life traveling, meeting and learning new cultures he has come across many people in his life. Most people misunderstand the markings, the jewelry, and vodou itself. Do to this, while some will praise him for saving a loved one with his skills, many fear him. Thinking him evil and only doing curses, not cures. Even more select group of people know the truth about him as he for the most part is quiet and to himself. For those who can get him to bond, you'd never be able to look at him as evil again.
Voudou SKills =
*He was not gifted to see spirits, but they do talk to him from time to time. Hence one of his Quirks.
*Telekinetic: Unable to lift anything he physically can't and only works about 10 yards or so.
*Able to create multiple spells/potions/curses/hexes and the like.
*Able to make good luck and bad luck charms.
*Enhanced Senses: With this comes weaknesses of course. Strong odors could stop in dead in his tracks, average light can be blinding and sonic noises most wouldn't hear could make him wish he were deaf.
*Poison Tolerence: This comes from many many years of drinking and or other wise being bit by venomous creatures, slowly building up a tolerance.
*Elemental Abilities: He can in no one MAKE anything appear out of thin air. He can make a seed grow faster or make a pant die, he move already existing fire, water, wind etc.
*note*
The powers he has stem from drinking Moon Fruit Juice. As each generation comes, the stronger the abilities per the previous generations drinking it and getting into the body. Passing on the gift as well as drinking the juice making it stronger. It's a new world and would love for this this to be allowed. However if direct magic is not getting accepted, it could be the juices have altered the mind in such a way to have mental abilities from telekinetic, telepathic, clairvoyance, and other such things that could make it appear vodou magic is happening.
His elemental powers could stem from the telekinetic ability and he not know that. Spells and charms working may just be psychological on the customers part. Or even plants and ingredients that put them in a someone high like state so they think they are happy, which in turns makes them feel like it's their lucky day etc. As for hearing spirits. If magic isn't accepted, ok maybe he is insane or hears the thoughts projected and then in turn thinks he hears a spirit trying to tell that customer something.
Markings =
This marking means " Moon of Death ". This marking is on his left shoulder and people misunderstand it. With his vodou nature, they believe it is a bad symbol. Lotek City make sacrifice to the moon for it brought Moon Fruit. The root of their powers. For them death is not bad, but what must be done. This symbol represents the shaman to look out for you after death. To guide your soul where it needs to go. Not a bad omen.
This is the shaman marking the Noteka tribe gave Qayin. The snake is his spirit animal.
Common Weapons =
"Shiny" = His handy dandy oh so sharp tool for everything. It dices, it slices, and it makes French fries and three different... you get the point. This trust bad boy is on him at all times unless forced otherwise. Not always so discreet about it either. Whether he's cppking or fighting for his life, trust he's using his machete.
"Boom Stick" = Precisely. It's a stick. It goes boom. Not often will you see him in need of this. Sometimes though. when you're walking tall you need to carry a big stick to keep the morons back. Or local wild life when traveling the multiple terrains of Da'goh. Or any place for that matter. Though he's more likely to pistol whip you with it, then shoot you with it. You call it a weapon. He calls it his "Skeleton Key".
Training started early for young Qayin. He'd spend most of his days at home with his mother, being taught everything from rituals and prayers to making good luck charms and love potions. He'd assist in ceremonies his mother performed for the town, and practice drawing veve's (voudou symbols) like a child would practice witting their ABC's. Quized daily on the different Loa's (Spirits of vodou that serve as intermediaries between Bondye or "Bon Dieu" the good god ) and how to serve each of them correctly and with respect. His father however, was a traveling merchant on Da'goh. He would travel to the forests of the Noteka Tribe, the beaches of the islands to trade with people of the Kama-Kama Village, or the market place at the Da'goh Hotel and Tourism Center. Trading to them jewelry, strange finds of the swamps and whatever medicine, potion, and the like that Qayin and his mother made.
Qayin was a fan of traveling with his father when he went to sell their goods. Traveling Da'goh can be both dangerous as well a wonderful and beautiful adventure. As a child, Qayin, was very friendly, outgoing and his mind looking to learn. It's no surprise that he founds kids to talk to and play with when they traveled. It started with the Noteka tribe. Their forests, were not too far off from the swamps in which Qayin played in. He came close friends with a few boys, and would go hunting with them. Knowing how spiritual he was, and respectful he was by not ever bringing technology in Noteka territory, they saw him as good luck. Looking out for them and blessing their hunts. At ten years old he spoke to Umbo, the "Crann", the Noteka's shaman. Learning from him, Qayin became even more rooted to his spiritual nature and it was now a quest to learn all he could of mind, spirit, soul and the like.
With this knowledge, the need to know more, be more, he traveled to the Polu Lani (Blue Heaven) Ocean, to the Kama-Kama Village Island to learn from their shaman as well. Learning about the spirit of the ocean, the sun. It was different than what he knew. At home he made sacrifices, he paid the souls to talk to the Bondye for him. With the Noteka they begged forgiveness of the animals and the land when they took from them. With the Kama-Kama, he felt tranquil. Worshiping the sun, the ocean, absorbing warmth of the sun and life of water to grow and be what they were suppose to. It was all very contradicting and yet still all the same thing to him. Enhancing his own soul.
Qayin decided he wanted off of Da'goh. He needed to leave the moon of Javos and travel. See the other moons and planets of this galaxy. Learn more of what was out there while also using his skills to help heal people as well guiding lost souls looking for a path. With years of trading with his father at the Da'goh Hotel and Tourism Center, he saw all sorts of people come and go from his moon going back to where ever they came from. Always looked down on him. Nothing but a stupid swamp rat in their eyes. It was time to change that. Going to the tourism center's library, he'd read any and every book he could. Encyclopedia's, Language books, tourism books of other places. Anything that would teach him more.
After his twenty first birthday and having worked his but off every way possible for the last few years, he was able to give his parents a bit of money as well as hitch a ride to Javos. He traveled all over Javos, helping people with farming and harvesting where needed. He'd dish wash and eventually even do cooking for some restaurants. He didn't need money too much. Mostly lived off the land while traveling town to town. Every so often people took note of the markings on his arms. Which lead people to either fear him, or come to him for aide. Hoping he could ward of evil or heal them or their friends and family when no other doctors could. This would lead to working side by side with doctors in some occasions, learning a lot about common medicine as he watched other doctors work.
Near about his mid thirties, one man saw his skills in alternative methods and offered to take him to the Midway Station. Here the doctor brought him to the Underside of the Midway Station in hopes he could help heal fighters in the pits as quickly as possible. Anyway possible. He decided to do such only because in his eyes, those fighters needed him. Back on Javos, he was known as Papa Cain. Qayin being a form of Cain. When he joined medical staff of the fights, he never gave his name but some who knew him still called him Papa. Leading to the nickname " Papa Doc " by the fighters. For a few years he took care of the bruised and battered that came out of the fights. That was until people willing to pay a lot of money on the mysterious doctor to fight got involved, started getting force to fight himself. He lost a lot in the beginning. He didn't want to compete, didn't want to fight and certainly did not want to fight for money. He can only take a beating so many times before he starts to fight back. After a year of winning, and using all profit to buy medical supplies for other fighters, he wanted to get away from Midway.
For the last ten years, Papa has joined any ship that needed him. Doctor, cook or even a botanist or all of the above. Hopping crew after crew looking and trying to find himself just the right crew to call family in which he'd be able to travel every planet and moon in the At-Verse, looking to help and heal all that are in his need.

Moon/Planet App
_______________________________________________________________________________________
Planet/Moon's Name = Da'goh ( Dah-Go )(ok seriously... just say Dagobah System.. now.. Dago.. no bah. You got it )
If a Moon, Moon to what planet? = Javos
History =
When the first settlers came to Javos, there were a few groups who were not exactly thrilled with the new world or technological advances. After hearing rumors of a moon with even more land masses, they got together and made way to the new moon. Settling on one of Javos' moons, it was soon being called Da'goh (Da-Go). The name stemming from Javos outsiders not understanding thick accents when the people of Da'goh said they loved on The God's moon. The Da'goh moon was made up of new and interesting animal and plant life. A beautiful place for nature lovers indeed.
The original settlers of Da'goh broke into three main settlements. The first, were very against the oncoming new technologies. So much they reverted back into a tribal living. They would forgo any and all technology and live off the land. Hunters who respected the nature they lived. No one hunted for fun, but survival. If they killed an animal, they gave prayer, thanked their gods, and used it fully. Their furs, skins, bones, and meat. Nothing was thrown away. They built their own tools and lived a very natural and spiritual way of life. They came to build villages in the canopy of the forests, a top trees as tall if not taller than a red wood tree, keeping them safe from the man ground dwelling creatures of the forest. They took on the name Noteka (No-Tek-Uh) Tribe, though most outsiders have come to simply call them Tree Folk. The only items they have for barter are the things they hunt and gather. Bone tools and jewelery, animal skin and fur clothing and blankets as well as the unique wild plants for the Da'goh forest. Their weapons are fashioned from the tusks of a Borsk. Swords, knives, axe's, arrows, spears etc. The tusk of a Borsk can be as harder to break than a sword, and just as sharp. When on the ground they travel on the backs of what they call "Hell Hounds" or " War Dogs".
The second settlers moved to the swamps of Da'goh. The original seven families that went to the swamp, while not wanting to be as advanced as the new world wanted to be, did not want to go completely with out technology as the Noteka Tribe did. Also, while they live in houses made in trees some what similar to the Noteka's, the trees of the swamp lands are much smaller in comparison making houses usually only a few stories off the ground, if not built in to the trunks. The original seven families were lead to the swamps and settled there by a woman only known to outsiders as Mama Jusi ( Ju-Sai ).
With her came knowledge of old world Haitian Voodoo. As houses went up and spread through the swamps, they called their settlement, Lotek (Low-Tek) City. While all sorts of walks of life have come from and been raised in Lotek City, it is easy to say the city has produced a majority of two types of citizens. Doctors and chefs. Both coming from the use of the wild vegetation found in the swamps that make for some amazing spice and if cultured right can make holistic medicine like you would not believe. Those who have taken to learn the ways of Mama Jusi and he voodoo knowledge, the vegetation, and a very spiritual nature they share with the Noteka's, the citizens of Lotek City who practice voodoo, practice it more in a Shaman like fashion. Only looking to heal and help those who are sick and in need. Not to say there are not a bad egg or two who could use such skills in harmful ways. Lotek City has kept their old world ways when it comes to a Cajun style cooking. You can expect if you meet a Lotek citizen, they want you to make their food spicier.
The third group of settlers were not as anti technology as the other two, but were more wanting to keep their way of living. They descend form a cross breed of pacific islander traditions and customs blended with a bit of technology to make their living in the new word as comfortable as it once was in the old world. While swimming one day one of the group discovered just how deep the islands of Da'goh are and found caves leading into the center of the island from below. With the use of technology, they were able to create a stable living system from inside and they call this " Kama-Kama Village ". Rooting from the Hawaiian word " Kama’aina ", meaning a local island resident, whether native or someone who now lives on the island. If you find yourself near Polu Lani (Blue Heaven) Ocean, home of the Kama-Kama Village island and come across a villager, don't be surprised if you hear them say, " Ma La Hini " or in other words, not a native islander. There culture is a very wet one to say the least. Main form of trade is seafood. They make jewelry from fish bones and seashells as well that look almost steampunk in appearance. Jetski's, surfboards, their boats and were adapted to hover and or fly.
Present =
Generations later the three original settlements still exist and are still very peaceful to one another. However, there are more outsiders now than there use to be. The reason for this is that " Playable Character " made a deal with the three settlements to open the Da'goh Hotel and Tourism Center which is a multi floor hotel renting rooms to vacationers looking to see the sights, restaurants,activities and the like. It also houses 3 floors of markets that Da'goh settlers run to sell their trades and crafts to outsiders. This in particular helped the Noteka tribe expand their bartering with more then the people they already deal with from Lotek City and Kama-Kama Village, as they do not ever leave Da'goh. " Playable Character " was also allowed to open Star Island, a 5 Star resort out in the middle of Polu Lani.
*Note*
" Playable Character " is open for grabs. He can be anyone. Current thoughts on this would be some evil minded ceo for possible sl's to come. Someone like Lex Luther. Someone who at face value is a good person of the community and at the same time trying to rule the world kind of guy. Or gal. Just a thought. Open for talks.

Horned Wolf =
About the size of a great dane, so smaller than Kerb. However they have horns like a ram in which they use to attack prey.
Kerb =
Called " Hell Hounds" and War Dogs" by the Noteka Tribe. A wolf like creature the size of a horse. Take a long time to properly train a Kerb but once done they are loyal for life. Used by the Noteka tribe as they are fast and able to sniff out and track prey for miles in the forests of Da'gah.
Borsk =
A wild boar with multiple tusk and the size of a great dane. Mean vicious animals that typically are found by themselves not in packs, and will readily attack if you get too close for it's comfort. If you see one it's best to simply stay as far away from it as you can.
- Island/Beach/Ocean-
Aloha Fish =
Named such for the first time Kama-Kama fisherman saw one it was flying past their face and the fisherman said " Aloha " as it went by. Vertical nets are used to catch them as they "fly". Now most islanders call them "Flappers"
Blue Orca = Friendly. So to speak. More like, these whales just don't care about people. They never attack, they don't run away. They simply drift through the great big blue.
Fang Whale =
This whale for the most part looks like, except for it's rigid spine and fanged like teeth, looks like a humpback whale. However it travels the water like a great white shark.
- Jungles -
Leopard Koi =
Very similar to that of the snow leopard back from Original Earth, though as one can see from the name and look of the wild cat of Da'goh, this creature also has the ability to swim as smoothly as a fish. Typically keeps to itself and will not bother people unless they feel threatened.
Savage Tooth =
A mix of prehistoric Sabretooth tiger, and lion, this animal certainly is unquestioned as Da'goh's king of the jungle. It's average size is 50% bigger than a common lion and is known to be more nocturnal. Savage Tooth's and many other animals are reasons tourists are reminded to stay away from the jungle after the sun goes down. This creature will hunt down it's prey until it gets it, or dies trying. If seen, run or do not hesitate to strike first.

Little Rex =
For all purposes, the Little Rex, Lil' Rex, or Rexy, looks just like a Tyrannosaurs Rex, except, it's about the size of a kitten. It extremely skittish. Typically they go running from the site of well anything bigger than it is.
Swamp Gator =
Citizens of Lotek City have always been around swamp gators. Even here on this new moon they have them. They saw no reason to give it a new name. They just call it " Gator ".

Moon Fruit = A member of the melon family. Grows with a thick vine holding it like ivy on the side of a wall. Named for the fact that at night, when the moon is at it's highest, juice inside begins to glow and causing the rest of the partially transparent surface of the melon to do so as well. Giving it a blue glowing effect. The juice inside has awakened gifts in those if have been exposed to drinking it regularly.
